The Zamb-easy side of Livingstone Posted on 20 April 2021 By Destination Livingstone Livingstone might be known as the Adventure Capital of Africa, but it’s not all about bungee jumping, white water rafting and seeking the next thrilling rush of adrenaline. The Zamb-easy side of Livingstone is packed full of fun and unique experiences. There is always a great reason to keep coming back to this gorgeous destination, and here are some of our suggestions. Victoria Falls No trip to Livingstone is complete without a visit to the Victoria Falls. It doesn’t matter how many times you have gazed upon her beauty; this waterfall never ceases to reveal new secrets at every visit. The Victoria Falls is open daily on the Zambian side from 6 am-6 pm, including on Zambian Public Holidays. Remember that in the wet season, the Zambezi River’s full flow comes crashing down and the resulting mist will have you soaked through. It’s all part of the experience! FEEL IT, SEE IT, DO IT!! Cruise Cruising on the Zambezi River is a must-do, and you’ll find a fantastic mix of local tourists and international travellers enjoying the majestic scenery. What could be better than serenely journey alongside the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park while sipping on cool drinks and enjoying snacks? Livingstone’s luxury cruise ships include The Lady Livingstone and The African Queen. There is plenty of room to get up and wander around the boat and grab a cocktail while you are at it. The infamous Zambezi Booze Cruise boats offer unlimited drinks, a braai (BBQ) and a more laid-back atmosphere on boats like The Lion King and Taonga. If you are travelling with a group, consider booking a private boat and create your own party. High Tea Tea, please! High Tea at the Royal Livingstone will transport you back in time and have you feeling like royalty. Enjoy dainty finger sandwiches, flaky pastries and scrumptious, decadent desserts on the expansive deck. Miniature scones with Chantilly cream and preserves are a favourite. Oh – did we say you have just to drink tea? A Zamb-easy high tea wouldn’t be complete without a complimentary glass of sparkling wine, and the hotel offers its guests free WIFI, so you can snap the perfect selfie while you’re at it. Craft Markets You certainly can’t leave Livingstone without a memento of your incredible time, and the local craft markets are an excellent place to start shopping. There are numerous craft markets dotted around Livingstone town with the largest being at the Victoria Falls and another large market on the main street at Mukuni Park beside the New Fairmount Hotel. Here you’ll find skillfully carved wooden objects, ingeniously upcycled crafts, beautiful paintings and bold Chitenge fabrics. A bit of haggling is expected, but we urge you to keep the conversation light-hearted and enjoy the experience. Sundowners A day in Zambia isn’t complete without a sundowner; a drink that’s taken as you sit down, relax and watch the sun set over another fabulous day. This hour is almost sacred in Livingstone, and many of our luxurious, private lodges along the banks of the Zambezi will have their own unique twist on the classic Gin and Tonic or cocktail that you can share with your loved one. If you are searching for a sundowner spot to enjoy the view in Livingstone, then the drive to Baobab Café is worth it for the spectacular views of the Victoria Falls in the distance. The deck at the Victoria Falls Waterfront is extremely popular with locals and tourists alike, especially on a Friday night for happy hour. https://destinationlivingstone.org/ Pictures: Tony Barnett Related Posts 8 amazing adrenaline activities to do in Zimbabwe and Zambia 23 May 2023 For thrill-seekers and adventure enthusiasts, Victoria Falls and Livingstone offer an abundance of adrenaline-pumping activities... read more Can’t Travel to Zambia?
