Win 3 Bottelary Hills MTB trail memberships worth R1950 (closed)

Posted on 4 December 2018

You could win three annual memberships to the Bottelary Hills mountain bike trail network between Stellenbosch and Kuilsriver, worth R650 each.

Ideal gift for MTB enthusiasts and nature lovers

One of South Africa’s most spectacular MTB trail networks runs through the Bottelary Hills Conservancy (BHC), which is situated just 40km from Cape Town.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site stretching over 42 farms, the Bottelary Hills Conservancy is tasked to care for, expand and sustain the large tracts of remaining Renosterveld in the area. Less than 4% of the original Renosterveld in the Western Cape remains.

Now into its eighth year, the trail offers multiple route options to cater for various skill and fitness levels: Red (27.5km/750m climbing), Green (17km/315m climbing), Yellow (6.5km/140m climbing), Blue (9km with 7km single track), Orange ( 9km/150m climbing), and Brown (4km/140m climbing).

The routes run mainly through well-known wine farms such as Hazendal, Kaapzicht, Mooiplaas, Ford Simon, Goede Hoop, Koopmanskloof, Asara, Overgaauw, Jordan, and Zevenwacht, all with spectacular 360 degree vistas, with Table Mountain and Bay, the Paarl Mountains, the Stellenbosch and Helderberg Mountains, and False Bay all visible.

The 2019 annual permits can be purchased from Friday, 14 December 2018 at a cost of R650 for the main member and R550 for the other two members, and are only available online at bottelaryconservancy.co.za. When enjoying the fabulous trails you will be making a substantial contribution to the preservation of this irreplaceable heritage.

Trails can be accessed from various points including Zevenwacht and Hazendal on the Kuilsriver side, Devonvale on the Koelenhof side Devon Valley, Asara and Overgaauw on the Stellenbosch side. Day permits can also be purchased for R55 at the following venues: Hazendal, Zevenwacht Country Inn, Bakery at Jordan, Asara hotel, the 24-hour garage kiosk at Soneike, and Bottelary Hills Wine Centre.

Hazendal has recently launched a Bike Park where children can ride a 5-km easy beginner singletrack. Showers are available as well as a restaurant.
