The new Alfa Romeo Stelvio: the epitome of sport Posted by David Henning on 17 August 2021 The Alfa Romeo Stelvio is the epitome of sport, as in go anywhere, sport utility vehicle. Who would have thought that the beautifully designed Italian thoroughbred would comfortably keep company with those 4X4 vehicles designed to perform in rugged difficult terrain and conditions? Well, think again. The Alfa Romeo Stelvio is as capable off-road as it is on city highways with the advantage of drop-dead good looks, comfort and performance not normally associated in this class, but then, it is an Alfa Romeo. The all-new Alfa Romeo Stelvio owes its provenance to the Stelvio Pass, or Passa Dello Stelvio, which is a twisty mountain road in the Italian Alps – not too dissimilar to the dangerous twisty mountainous road at the Swartberg Pass with its famous Skelmdraai, Stelvio is easily at home on both. The Stelvio handling agility and comfort in difficult terrain is thanks to its athletic dynamic platform which it shares with its sister Giulia. Equipped with the unique Alfa Romeo Q4, four-wheel-drive technology. The Stelvio is available in 208kw Stelvio Super Guise or the 380kw Stelvio Q. To make life just that little easier the multi-awarded Stelvio comes packed with features like the new Driver Assistance Pack; including Automatic High Beam Assist; Active Blind Spot Assist; Outside and Interior Rear-view Mirrors with electrochromic auto-dimming; Lane Keeping Assist and Driver Attention Alert. Recently, an Italian won Gold in the 100 metres and an Italian won Gold in the high jump at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. Well, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio’s ability for high-speed comfort and all-terrain handling has just become a Gold Medal Contender in a class, all of its own.
