Pet-friendly chalets at Little Switzerland Resort get tails wagging Posted on 5 August 2019 Little Switzerland Resort in the Northern Drakensberg, KwaZulu Natal, has announced that it will now accommodate pets in two of their self-catering chalets. The property which offers spectacular views of the Amphitheatre and has been operating since 1989, was taken over by Dream Hotels & Resorts in 2018. Gerhard Van Zyl , General Manager of Little Switzerland said: ‘We are excited to make the Drakensberg accessible for those longing to bring their fur-babies with them on their local holidays.’ ‘Like us humans, our pets long for adventure too, and its the perfect place to let them stretch their legs and discover new and exciting sights, sounds and smells out here in the fresh mountain air,’ he added. A holiday can be so much more rewarding and memorable when you get to take them along for the ride.’ Currently, only small to medium-sized dogs can be accommodated, with requests for birds and other types of small pets to be considered on an individual basis. Owners are responsible for bringing their dogs bedding, treats and favourite toys, and must always keep them on a leash when out walking around the property. Little Switzerland features several hiking trails and two nearby dams, which guests can explore with their pets. However, animals are not permitted in the restaurant, on the main patio, at the pool or in other main activity areas. Little Switzerland Resort, Drakensberg. Each pet-friendly, self-catering chalet also features an outdoor braai (BBQ) and seating area, an indoor fireplace, a TV with selected channels, a lounge area, private patio and two bathrooms. ‘As is the rule with all our guests, we will not allow aggressive behaviour on the premises, nor will we allow excessive barkers, although, we do understand that staying at Little Switzerland can be incredibly enthralling and our guests do need to express themselves from time to time,’ said van Zyl. Apart from the two pet-friendly units, the property has 22 additional self-catering chalets and en-suite hotel rooms, which range from luxury Executive Suites and Honeymoon Suites, to Standard Rooms and Standard Family Rooms.
