A weekend at theLAB Robertson Lifestyle Guest House Posted on 15 October 2019 If you find yourself wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of city life, there is no place more tranquil than theLAB Robertson Lifestyle Guest House. Situated 170km outside of Cape Town, theLab is the perfect intersection of modern tech, eco-consciousness and country living. The Cape Dutch-styled guest house, paired with an amalgamation of modern amenities, will make you feel as though you have simultaneously gone back and forward in time. theLAb’s beautiful Cape Dutch exterior When you walk into theLAB you immediately feel like you’ve come home. The manager, Dereck is super helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. His calm and professional demeanour helps you to get into relaxation-mode almost instantly. The owner’s dog, Einstein, who inspired theLAB’s inception. After showing us to our room, Dereck demonstrated some of the automations of the room’s Echo system that each suite is equipped with. Like kids with new toys, we began playing around with the features as soon as he’d left. There’s a full list of things you can ask the system to do, including ‘make me a coffee’ and ‘blinds up’. These two features come in handy if you aren’t a morning person. The view from Room number 5, overlooking the pool and dam When the dinnertime hunger pangs set in, we made our way to the deck area that overlooks a gorgeous dam. Being a vegetarian, I tucked in to a delicious veggie stir-fry, although I was assured that the traditional babootie was delectable. Breakfast was enjoyed overlooking the dam once again, where I could have spent the entire day. The Southern red bishops and Cape weavers tweeted and chirped throughout our meal. I wandered what they were talking about. When we were done eating, we spent the day exploring some of Robertson’s finest wineries. Breakfast consists of a hot meal, a selection of cheese, breads, fruits and freshly squeezed orange juice Despite being spring, it was sweltering and so when we returned we decided to spend the remainder of the afternoon at the infinity pool cooling off. The spa at theLAB is the perfect way to end your stay. With a variety of treatments to choose from, a full-body massage is definitely the perfect send off. You certainly won’t begin your trip home feeling stressed. If you aren’t the spa-going type, book an e-bike experience, where you can explore the surrounding farms without having to worry about carbon emissions. The e-bike excursion promises lots of rolling vineyards and bougainvilleas A weekend at theLAB Robertson Lifestyle Guest House is the ideal escape, where you can relax and recharge your batteries.
