Hudsons: the burger joint Posted on 23 November 2010 Tags:Cape Town Hudsons is a strong contender for the best burger joint in Cape Town. It’s a buzzing restaurant near the bottom of Kloof St with great (and decently priced) burgers and awesome music. I had the Stack, a vegetarian chickpea and lentil patty topped with caramelised onion, goat’s cheese and avo (R47) which I can thoroughly recommend. My friends had the classic Hudson burger, a beef patty with dill pickle and mustard mayo (R33 for 150g), the Wiseguy – a beef burger stuffed with fresh chilli, topped with tomato relish, sweet jalapenos and fresh rocket (R46 for 150g) and the Deli, a chicken breast topped with cranberry jelly, brie and rocket (R51), which all drew contented praise. Sides are ordered separately. Choose from beer-battered chilli poppers (R19), onion rings (R15), thin cut fries (R12), a house salad (R16) or Jessica Simpson’s Real Macoy Buffalo Wings (R24). There’s a good selection of decently priced wines, with Beyerskloof pinotage, Jordan Chameleon sauvignon blanc as well as great beer: Jack Black draught. Don’t miss Hudsons’ great specials: Happy Hour(s), where you buy a Jack Black beer or a Cosmopolitan cocktail and get one free, is from 3 pm to 6 pm, Monday to Thursday. ‘The Business’ lunch-time special (available from 12 – 3 pm on Mondays to Thursdays), it’s a steal at R49 for a 150g beef, chicken, ostrich or veggie burger with tomato relish and red onion, a side salad, chips and homemade lemonade. Hudsons is open every day from 11 am to 10 pm. Find it at 69a Kloof St. Tel 021-426-5974, email [email protected].
