Braaibroodjies recipe Posted on 20 September 2010 Tags:South Africa Try this recipe on National Braai Day on 24 September and make the most of this authentic South African celebration. Braaibroodjies The braaibroodjie is the South African version of the toasted sandwich, ideal for placating hungry children who are tired of waiting for the men to finally stop talking and start cooking the meat. There are two opposing schools of methodology: the one ties the sandwich – filled with cheese, tomato and onion – with string like a parcel; the other wouldn’t dream of it. Extract from Cape Wine Braai Masters, originally published by Wines of South Africa (WOSA) and available from Sunbird publishers in retail outlets from November. Web www.wosa.co.za.
