OUR PLANE WAS ON FIRE!!! Ibo to Pemba

Posted on 20 February 2009

“Fogo no cabin”!!! – announced by the pilot – says trouble to me. Nervous smiles from an air stewardess running with fire extinguisher to the front of the plane – says trouble to me

Nose diving for an emergency landing in Nampula – says trouble to me

Final words mumbled to each other. Great landing. Lots of clapping, crying and sighs of relief. One or two hours later we take off again. Luckily; in another plane or we would have walked.

It’s good to be alive!!!

Customs sucks. Too much gear, too much bossy officials, too much heat, too much long time. Thank you Justin for being born thirty-something years ago today; last night’s tequila didn’t help.

It’s a strange thing being on the road with such a close knit crew, almost like a family almost! Family is the only thing I was thinking about when we where falling out of the sky! When Oscar grabbed me and kissed me on my head saying it has been great working with you I thought harder and faster!!!…and sweated a lot!!!!

Darren Putter – Producer

Our plane was on fire never again please.
