EasyJet pilot turns plane around to show passengers Northern Lights Posted by Jordyn Johnson on 3 March 2023 An EasyJet pilot made a 360 turn on 27 February to show his passengers to northern lights. The aurora borealis, or northern lights, are typically only seen in Scotland and northern England, but on the 26 and 27 February parts of southern England got to experience the colourful phenomenon. BBC reported that ‘the plane was travelling from Iceland to Manchester as the aurora borealis lit up skies across the UK in a rare display.’ One of the passengers said that they ‘took off and halfway into the flight the pilot turned all the lights off and the view could be seen out the left window.’ Over the North Sea, the pilot decided to manoeuvre the plane in a 360 turn to allow all passengers to experience the night lights. The EasyJet spokesperson told SkyNews that they were ‘pleased the captain on [their] flight from Reykjavik to Manchester [on Monday evening] was able to perform a controlled manoeuvre in order to allow passengers to witness an amazing display from the air of one of nature’s greatest sights, the Aurora Borealis. ‘[Their] crew will always go above and beyond for [their] customers and [they’re] delighted to have been able to share this special view of the Northern Lights with them.’ Watch the story below: Follow us on social media for more travel news, inspiration, and guides.
