Dr Dziba, SANParks managing executive, selected to join Wildlife Conservation Society Posted by Jordyn Johnson on 20 February 2023 Dr Luthando Dziba is the managing executive for conservation services at SANParks but has now joined the Wildlife Conservation Society as regional director for East Africa, Madagascar, and the West Indian Ocean. He has been an invaluable member, leading the conservation division, and speaking nationally and internationally on behalf of SANParks on conservation matters, reported Bizcommunity. ‘Dr Dziba’s leadership in SANParks has been felt in [their] conservation work in all national parks,’ Acting CEO of SANParks, Property Mokoena, said. ‘He and his team have led a number of key initiatives including rhino and elephant conservation, conservation of large predators, protected area expansion, improved management of cultural heritage, innovative conservation finance and advancing conservation research. ‘He has also advanced collaboration with stakeholders across various conservation landscapes where we work. He leaves SANParks at a crucial time but his contribution to conservation will continue.’ The hope is that Dr Dziba will continue to create collaborations between South Africa and various international institutions regarding biodiversity conservation across Africa.
