Eswatini Air is set to launch in 2023, after receiving its Air Operator Certificate.

Eswatini’s first national airline purchased two aircraft and aimed to launch Eswatini Air in 2022. However, the airline could not keep to its plan due to administrative delays.

They received their Air Operating Certificate but announced on their Facebook page that there were ‘just a few logistics and (they needed to) revert with fares and schedules for their routes’ on 31 December.

Qiniso Dhlamini, CEO of the airline said that ‘the next step is to obtain related operating permits from aeronautical authorities of the foreign countries (they) plan to operate to, and soon thereafter, a date for commencement of (their) operations will be announced.’

The airline plans to operate flights from Manzini King Mswati III International Airport to Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, and Harare, reports TravelNews.

Aviation Source News says that Eswatini deserves to have its own national airline. Dhlamini further believes that Eswatini Air will ‘go a long way in facilitating trade and tourism development for the country.’
