Air Algérie adds Johannesburg to its list of destinations Posted by David Henning on 9 January 2023 Air Algérie has announced that it will add twice-weekly flights between Algiers and Johannesburg from 26 March, offering direct flights between South Africa and the North African nation. Picture: Mark Harkin/ Wikimedia Commons Algiers Houari Boumediene International Airport could position itself as a central transit hub with connecting flights to and from Brussels, Frankfurt, Istanbul, London Heathrow, Metz/Nancy, Milan Malpensa, Paris CDG, and Paris Orly. For Libreville: Basel, Brussels, Geneva, Lyon, Metz/Nancy, Milan Malpensa, Paris CDG, Paris Orly, and Rome. Air Algérie will also connect passengers to other African destinations such as Abidjan, Bamako, Dakar, Libreville, Niamey, Nouakchott, and Ouagadougou. According to Simple Flying, passengers should have a layover waiting period of no more than five hours for a connecting flight. It could also open up the country to tourists where Algeria could prove to be an attractive travel destination for South Africans who qualify for visas on arrival. The airline says that it will use its Airbus A330-200 for the service, and also announced new routes to Addis Ababa in Ethiopia and Libreville in Gabon.
