There she goes! The last 747 has left our Everett factory ahead of delivery to Atlas Air in early 2023. #QueenOfTheSkies Photos: Boeing/Paul Weatherman pic.twitter.com/duzgr6MzQl — Boeing Airplanes (@BoeingAirplanes) December 7, 2022 It took Boeing 16 months to produce the first 747 but it has since produced 1 573 over the years. When it was first produced, it was the largest commercial plane in the world and the first with two aisles. It could take nearly 500 passengers on board and has served many roles over its lifespan, including cargo movement and even as a US presidential aircraft. Boeing’s reputation took a hit following deadly crashes in 2018 and 2019 and the Covid pandemic forcing Britsh Airways to retire its 747 fleet. Many airlines have started choosing to move over to Airbus in recent years due to its fuel efficiency. The final customer for the Boeing 747 was Atlas Air, who ordered four 747-8 freighters.
