The Russian oligarch yacht headed for Cape Town has gone off the radar Posted by Jordyn Johnson on 8 November 2022 The Russian Oligarch yacht that was due to dock in Cape Town on Wednesday, 8 November, has turned off its location transponders. ‘It is unclear where the yacht is now,’ reports Business Insider. The yacht has been given permission to dock in Cape Town Harbour by South African national government, against the Cape Town mayor’s wishes. The Transnet Port Authority told Business Insider that no written berthing request has been sent for the yacht as expected. ‘the yacht went dark by turning off its location transponders somewhere around 26 October near Banda Aceh in Indonesia.’ This means that the yacht is untraceable, as ‘no commercial vessel tracking services can pick up its position, or any other voyage information.’ Picture: Getaway gallery Follow us on social media for more travel news, inspiration, and guides.
