B Artworks Gallery is the cool new kid on the block in Maboneng Posted on 14 September 2022 B Artworks Gallery is hosting its opening exhibition with founder Boitumelo Diseko in October and it’s bound to be one for the books. The internationally celebrated South African artist was born in North West. Having studied Fine Art at the University Of Pretoria, her expansive and often collaborative work – across different mediums that include painting, drawing, etching and sculpture draws on the theme of psychology, landscape, memory and identity and how they interlink. Diseko’s artworks are mainly rooted in environmental psychology and the Christian faith. Environmental psychology is a multidimensional field that focuses on the interplay between individuals and their surroundings. It examines the way in which the natural environment and our built environments shape us as individuals. Boitumelo Diseko uses lines akin to contour lines because she looks at memory and identity encoded onto a landscape. The exhibition at B Artworks Gallery will serve as an experiment, no statement will be given to explain what each work is about. Though viewers will partake in an exhibition which relies on them deciphering what each artwork is about to them, based on various environments they each came from – that will largely play a role in how they decode each artwork for themselves. EXHIBITION: IT STARTS AS A LINE 5 October – 14 October 2022 10 am – 6 pm Location: 20 Kruger Street, Maboneng Precinct, Johannesburg Main Change Building, 3d Floor, 301D To RSVP or for more information, email [email protected] Visit b-artworksgallery.com ALSO READ: WIN!
