Calvinia’s 30th Hantam Meat Festival kicks off this weekend Posted by Anita Froneman on 23 August 2022 This year, Calvinia’s Hantam Vleisfees/Meat Festival kicks off for the 30th time on 26 August. The much-loved Karoo rendezvous celebrates everything that screams local culture: riel dancing, live ‘boere’ music, vintage cars and of course, meat from the community farms. Specifically, lamb from local farmers that the Karoo is so known for will be braaied in every way thinkable. A perfect family outing, you can take along the kids and dogs to play while mom and dad grab a beer and a sosatie. There will be exciting entertainment, including a sheepdog show, various local musicians and a strong man competition. See the below programme for a full list of events and venues. Tickets Friday: Adults R100, children R50 Saturday: Adults, R150, children R100 Available at the gate.
