Authorities seize R30.6 million worth of animal parts in Malaysia Posted by Taylah Strauss on 20 July 2022 Malaysian authorities have seized $17.9 million (R30.6 million) worth of trafficked animal parts including rhino horns, pangolin scales, tiger bones and elephant tusks on 18 July. This comes after the discovery of about six tonnes of elephant tusks and other trafficked parts in the country’s Selangor State at the western port on 17 July. Authorities speculate that the parts were shipped from Africa, according to CNN. Malaysia has been identified as a major transit point for trafficked animal parts – especially African animals – en route to other southeast Asian countries.
