Call to vote for Table Mountain in World Travel Awards Posted by Taylah Strauss on 6 July 2022 Table Mountain has been nominated for Africa’s Leading Tourist Attraction at the highly-esteemed World Travel Awards (WTA). Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company (TMACC) is calling on the public to cast their vote so that Table Mountain can secure the award for a fifth time. READ MORE: South Africa’s history at the World Travel Awards ‘The World Travel Awards is the gold standard in the travel world and acknowledges service excellence and responsible operators each year,’ says Wahida Parker, Managing Director of TMACC. The awe-inspiring mountain range claimed the accolade first in 2014, and then again in 2019, 2020 and 2021, meaning that winning this year will make it a four year running streak. Table Mountain will be ‘competing’ against the V&A Waterfront and Robben Island – also in Cape Town. International competition will come from Mount Kilimanjaro and the Pyramids of Giza – both of which have also won the accolade several times in the past. Ngorongoro Crater, Okavango Delta and Lake Malawi are also in the running. TMACC itself also earned a nomination for Africa’s Responsible Tourism Award. ‘This nomination is an honour for my team who have worked hard to ensure that we give our local and international visitors an unforgettable experience while at the same time protecting and preserving the rich natural heritage within which we operate,’ says Parker. ‘We need the public to help us keep these accolades in South Africa where they belong. It would be an enormous thrill if Table Mountain were to be chosen as the continent’s leading tourist attraction for the fourth year in a row. We are appealing to everyone to help us win.’ Cast your vote here.
