Motorists face another fuel price hike in July

Government has announced that the petrol levy cut will be decreased from R1.50 per litre to only 75c this July.

The petrol prices will see a R2.37 (93) and R2.57 (95) increase per litre from Wednesday, 6 July. Diesel will cost R2.31 (0.05% sulphur) and R2.30 (0.005% sulphur) more per litre.

Motorists have been faced with enormous fuel price hikes since the war between Russia and Ukraine broke out earlier this year. Russia is one of the world’s biggest oil exporters.

According to News24, the average Brent crude oil price increased from $115 a barrel to $115.77 in June due to increased fuel demand in China. This was also influenced by the European Union partially banning oil imports from Russia.
