The 2022 Tourism Investment Summit comes at a time when South Africa needs to rebuild the tourism sector following the disruption of repeated lockdowns. Private sector investors were then invited to participate in the summit, where new concession contracts will become available, including the Table Mountain Cable Car and seven lodges in Kruger National Park. SANParks plans to release over 100 new tourism investment opportunities over the next 10 years. According to Business Insider, One of these potential opportunities is a boat cruise on Pioneer Dam at Mopani Rest Camp in Kruger National park If this idea is realised, it will be the first of its kind in the park, which has limited water activities. This is not the only idea in the pipeline for Pioneer Dam, with SANParks also investigating the opportunity to install underground bunkers for photography. Other new ‘Investment-ready projects’ coming to the Kruger National Park include adventure motorcycle tours, mountain biking and spa facilities for camps in the northern region of the park, including Olifants, Letaba and Mopani.
