Forecast warns Britain of sweltering April temperatures

A sharp rise in temperatures over the next few weeks has been predicted for Britain by meteorologists.

Although the UK is still coming out of winter, the heatwave is predicted to hit next month. Temperatures are expected to reach 28°C in the middle of April, a month that typically only reaches an average high of 12°C.

Weather forecaster, Jim Dale spoke to the Daily Express, ‘I think hot weather could come in fairly early as far as April is concerned perhaps. I know March is the start of Spring but I think we’re probably going to get properly into April before we start to see the searing sort of temperatures.’

Dale added that ‘Longer-term, given what’s happening globally in terms of the temperature profiles in the southern hemisphere and what’s also happening in the United States, I would not be surprised if we started to see some big highlights, in whichever direction it goes, either cold or hot. It is more likely that we see those spikes of heat at early stages because of global warming.’

Dale remarks it will not be a surprise if the rest of summer also reaches similar temperatures, although it is hard to tell so early on.

These hot weather predictions come just a month after flood warnings were issued during Storm Franklin, following Storm Dudley and Eunice in February 2022. These storms brought strong winds and threatened the safety of citizens.
