Airlink suspends flights between Johannesburg and Angola Posted by Taylah Strauss on 1 December 2021 Following the Angolan Government’s decision to close its borders to South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique, Botswana, Eswatini, Zimbabwe and Tanzania, Airlink has suspended flights between Johannesburg and Luanda. Airlink’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Roger Foster, said the following in a statement: ‘While we are disappointed on behalf of our customers who are being inconvenienced, we must respect the decision by the Angolan authorities. However, we look forward to resuming our regular service as soon as possible.’ Airlink is directing affected customers to their booking agents or directly to Airlink customer service for refunds. Moreover, Airlink will continue to perform a number of repatriation flights due to South Africa being red-listed by many countries. These flights will start on 5 December 2021 and will continue biweekly until the repatriation requirement has normalised. South African Airways has also cancelled their passenger flight from Johannesburg to Mauritius on 28 November and used the flight as a repatriation service instead.
