South African Airways removes Mozambique from daily schedule Posted by Taylah Strauss on 23 November 2021 After ‘careful monitoring of flight bookings and passenger volumes’, South African Airways (SAA) has removed daily flights to Maputo in Mozambique, effective from 1 December 2021. Passengers with tickets to this destination will be accommodated. SAA’s Interim Executive Commercial Officer, Simon Newton-Smith commented on what prompted this decision: ‘When SAA resumed operations at the end of September, we committed to constantly monitor passenger volumes and revenue on all routes. Demand on this service has not met expectations and for the time being, this change is in line with our strategy of being a transparent management and fiscally responsible.’ Furthermore, Newton-Smith stated that their new routes to Lagos in Nigeria and Mauritius has provided encouraging results and other routes are also being considered for 2022. Passengers with tickets to Mozambique will be accommodated, either with different flights or a refund: ‘No airline likes to cancel flights but we are committed to success and sustainability of our airline, whilst we meet our valued customer requirements. We apologise to customers for any inconvenience and full assistance will be provided to all customers holding an SAA ticket on flights that are withdrawn from the schedule. Customers should refer to issuing offices for assistance.’ Picture: Wikimedia Commons ALSO READ SAA will not resume flights to London Related Posts Cape Town’s sustainability: Leading the way in environmental initiatives 1 June 2023 As National Environmental Month commences in South Africa, Cape Town stands proudly at the forefront... read more Kapama to host Safari Guide of the Year Awards 2023 1 June 2023 Kapama Private Game Reserve near Hoedspruit will host this year’s Safari Guide of the Year... read more Blood Lions relaunches for public viewing on YouTube 1 June 2023 Award-winning documentary feature film Blood Lions has been relaunched on YouTube for public viewing, creating... read more PREV ARTICLE NEXT ARTICLE
