French hot-air balloonist sets new world record at 4,016 metres high

A French hot-air balloonist, Remi Ouvrard set a new world record for reaching the highest altitude in a hot-air balloon on November 10.

Ouvrard reached new heights during the Telethon charity fundraising event, an organisation that raises money to support people living with neuromuscular diseases.

Ouvrard reached an altitude of 4,016 metres over the city of Chatellerault, breaking the previous world record that he also held, of 1,217 metres, according to France24.

To celebrate the victory, the enthusiastic balloonist climbed on top of the hot-air balloon for some incredible footage, dressed in an astronaut suit. The balloon was piloted by his father.
