3000 passengers isolate after Covid-19 case on Singapore cruise ship Posted by David Henning on 15 July 2021 A cruise ship in Singapore was forced to quarantine 3000 passengers with guests relegated to the confines of their room after a passenger tested positive for Covid-19 on 14 July, CNBC Reports. Passengers onboard the World Dream, operated by Dream Cruises were required to isolate after a guest took a rapid antigen test prior to boarding the cruise on 14 July, which came back negative. Contact tracing later revealed that the guest was in close contact with a confirmed Covid-19 case before boarding, and the guest was immediately isolated. The guest then later tested positive after a second test. The rest of the passengers went into isolation at 1 a.m and were allowed to leave the ship at 8:30 p.m the same evening. The guest who tested positive had already disembarked hours before the other guests. The guest’s travel companions have all tested negative, but will still disembark the boat via a route separated from the other passengers as well as those who came into contact with the guest. All guests disembarking are required to take a rapid antigen test at Marina Bay Cruise Centre. Singapore has seen relatively few domestic cases of Covid-19, and the struggling cruise industry in Singapore has launched “cruises to nowhere”, round trips on luxury lines.
