Hot tubs with mountain views at Bakenhof Winelands Lodge Posted by Anita Froneman on 20 September 2022 Tags:Cape Winelands, hot tub, wood fired hot tub There’s something about the Cape Winelands. On its own, Bakenhof is majestic, awe-inspiring and just all-around blissful. Add a wood-fired hot tub from which to take it all in and I’m sold. This 36-hectare farm near Wellington boasts two Kolkol wood-fired hot tubs, tried and tested by a very finicky hot-tubber (and by that I mean I pestered the poor manager endlessly to help me heat it up until it was boiling hot – just the way I like it). But, without ever getting impatient, Rita the Reliable always magically appeared right when I needed her help (Rita, I’ve let the fire die by accident. Rita, do you perhaps have any chutney? Rita, I can’t get my airconditioner on). The service really was impeccable, always warm, speedy and super professional. With views like these, it’s easy to spend hours in the tub. Credit: Bakenhof Winelands Lodge The property is home to two separate complexes within walking distance from each other and the onsite wedding venue, making it the ideal place for a truly Capetonian Winelands wedding. It’s just as perfect for a romantic getaway, or a luxury holiday surrounded by peace, quiet and rolling views. The wedding accommodation comes complete with ‘Get Ready’ pamper parlours, specially equipped for brides and their tribes. The venue exudes that amazing countryside feel. The suites are each more elegant than the next, with fine attention to detail and exquisite finishes. The tasteful decor, from the opulent drapes and chandeliers down to the spacious and regal furniture are more than enough reason to stay inside, lounging around all day. And I would too if it weren’t for those hot tubs. The suites are warm, inviting and luxurious. Credit: Bakenhof Winelands Lodge Relax and un(wine)d. Credit: Anita Froneman The hours can easily slip by without me noticing when I soak up the hot water, reclining with a superb glass of wine in hand. Bakenhof makes their own exclusive wine, and it’s not sold in retail. The beautiful and full-bodied wines are only sold directly to guests on the property (when lockdown regulations permit, of course) and it is just as special as the place.
