Spectacular sighting of a python eating a woodlands kingfisher Posted by Anita Froneman on 7 July 2021 Tags:african rock python, python, snake A lucky Kruger visitor came across a fantastic sighting of a Southern African python eating a woodlands kingfisher near Lake Panic and shared his pictures with us. Pythons are non-venomous, and kill their prey only by constriction leading to suffocation. These massive animals can weigh up to 50kg and be up to 4 metres long according to Kapama. They are known to prey on birds and rodents, but can easily eat larger animals like impala too. David Bough took these stunning snapshots of the large reptile feasting in a tree a few years ago.
