Direct flights between Johannesburg and New York to kick off in June

United Airlines will now offer direct flights between New York and Johannesburg, aiming to fill the gap created by the absence of flights previously offered by South African Airways (SAA).

Direct flights between US and SA to kick-off in June

United Airlines was set to launch flights between New York and Johannesburg on 31 March, but in January the airline postponed the start date of this service to 3 June.

United Airlines began operating its seasonal direct flights between New York and Cape Town in December 2019, which makes the Johannesburg route the second in South Africa. Flights between the US and Cape Town are only expected to resume on 31 October this year.

United’s Johannesburg flights will be operated with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which offers an exceptional business class product featuring extra-private Polaris seating. Flights will depart from Johannesburg at 20h00 and arrive in New York at 05h45 the next day.
