101-year-old takes the plunge at Victoria Falls’ Batoka Gorge Posted by Anita Froneman on 18 May 2021 Mollie Lock is proof that adventure knows no age. This Zimbabwean celebrated her 101st birthday on a gorge swing at Victoria Falls! Lock, a former artist and Red Cross Voluntary Aid Detachment Nurse during the Second World War, is a mother of six, a grandmother of twenty, and a great grandmother of six according to Victoria Falls’ tourism website. Her family celebrated the big day with her as she did the ‘Flying Fox’ ride over Batoka Gorge operated by Wild Horizons. The gorge, located around the Zambezi River a few kilometres from the Victoria Falls, is home to various wildlife including hippos and crocs, as well as other small game and numerous bird species.
