Emirates extends travel ban on South Africa Posted on 16 February 2021 Emirates announced the ban on flights to South Africa will be extended until March 10. The airline previously planned to resume flights on February 28. Travellers from South Africa are not allowed to enter the UAE. ‘Customers holding tickets with final destinations in South Africa will not be accepted for travel at their point of origin. Emirates regrets any inconvenience caused,’ said Emirates in a statement. Emirates initially planned to resume flights at the end of February. Those who are affected by the extended ban need to contact their travel agent or Emirates contact centre to arrange rebooking options. Passengers need to ensure their contact details are correct to stay in the loop regarding updates from the airline. This can be done by visiting Manage Your Booking. ‘Emirates remains committed to serving our customers in South Africa, and we look forward to resuming passenger services when conditions allow. We continue to work closely with all relevant authorities in this regard, and will endeavour to provide our customers with as much support and notice as possible,’ the statement concluded.
