Flight attendant explains why you should never drink water on a flight Posted on 25 January 2021 Kat Kamalani, a flight attendant, shared an inside secret about the aviation world: Never drink water on a flight that doesn’t come from a can or bottle. Coffee or tea? Avoid avoid avoid. Kamalani shared a video on popular video platform TikTok that has now gone viral, explaining that water, not inside a can or bottle, comes from tanks on the plan. A flight attendant explained why passengers should never drink water that doesn’t come from a can or bottle. ‘Rule number one: Never consume any liquid that is not in a can or a bottle,’ says Kamalani in the video. She continues to say ‘those water tanks are never cleaned and they are disgusting.’ She explained that very rarely do her and other flight attendants drink coffee or tea. She says that the machines on board that are used for boiling water are never cleaned. The kettle-like flasks are cleaned in between flights though. The worst part is that these machines are located right by the toilets. She went on to say that parents should never ask for warm water to put into their child’s bottle. She recommends, instead, that parents ask for bottled water, fill the bottle with this and ask for warm water in a separate cup, then to place the bottle in the cup of warm water and heat the bottle that way instead.
