Kruger Park ranger arrested in possession of illegal cannabis Posted on 30 November 2020 A South African National Parks (SANParks) field ranger based at Stolsnek Ranger Section in the Kruger National Park was arrested after a quantity of illegal cannabis was discovered in his possession on November 27. The field ranger appeared in court on Monday in connection with the confiscated contraband. His arrest was made during an ongoing investigation carried out by the South African Police Services and SANParks into the disappearance of field ranger Checkers Mashego. The well-known ranger went missing on the November 17 and has still not been found. The KNP Managing Executive, Gareth Coleman, has reiterated the organisation’s full commitment and continuous efforts in support of the South African Police Services and the local community to determine the whereabouts of field ranger Mashego.
