Minister clarifies no holiday travel under amended restrictions Posted on 26 June 2020 In a media briefing on Friday evening [June 26], Minister of Tourism Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane said no accommodation for leisure travellers will be permitted under amended Level 3 restrictions gazetted on Thursday. Self drive leisure travel is permitted within the province a person resides in, but no overnight stays in hotels, lodges, bed and breakfast, homestay and such types of accommodation will be permitted for leisure travellers. “I can’t go with my family and my children, go and book in a hotel for a weekend. It’s still not allowed,” said Kubayi-Ngubane in the briefing. Restaurants casinos, museums, galleries and libraries will be allowed to open from Monday under strict health protocols. Cinemas and theatres will also be allowed to open while only fifty people allowed to enter at one showing.
