KLM South Africa secures additional repatriation flights

KLM South Africa has announced additional repatriation flights scheduled to fly from South Africa to Europe in the weeks to come.

Air France-KLM, in coordination with the Dutch and French embassies in South Africa have managed to procure additional repatriation flights which will enable Dutch and French nationals, along with any other European Union members to return home safely.

Air France-KLM has put additional sanitary and heath measures in place to keep both staff and passengers as safe as possible. The wearing of face masks will be mandatory for passengers and staff when boarding the plane. All aircraft involved in the repatriation flights will be cleaned and sanitised on a daily basis.

During the flights, the air inside the aircraft cabin will be continuously renewed with fresh air drawn in from the outside. All aircrafts are equipped with a highly advanced air filtration system consisting of High Efficiency Particulate Air filters (HEPA) which are able to capture 99,99% of all bacteria and viruses, including COVID-19.

Those allowed to travel include:

-Citizens of the European Union.

-Holders of Residence permit for any of the European Union countries.

-Holders of Residence permit for the United Kingdom, Norway or Switzerland.

-Third country residents (outside the European Union countries along with United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Norway) in transit in Amsterdam with a connecting flight.

-Foreign citizens married to European Union citizens issued with the appropriate visa for their destination.

-Foreign citizens with Residence Permit for any of the European Union countries including United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Norway.

-Foreign citizens holding MVV (D-visa) for any of the European Union countries including United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Norway.

To view the available flights visit the KLM website or AirFrance website and search for one-way trips. Note that you will be obliged to fill in a web form to submit information required by the South African Authorities.

You will also be able to use an existing ticket to book these flights, however, fare difference may apply. Once you have booked a ticket, make your way to the appropriate embassy in South Africa and ask for a ‘Laissez passer’ letter to be allowed to travel to the assembly points. From there, all passengers will be transported to the airport by bus.
