Posted on 22 May 2020

Flying will never be the same and as airlines begin taking to the skies again, we have seen some changes being made to keep passengers and staff safe.

Qatar Airways has announced that their flight crews will now be wearing disposable, full body protective gear during flights.

In addition to wearing full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) suits, the airline will also introduce a modified service that will reduce interactions between passengers and the crew inflight.

It won’t just be the cabin crew who will be required to wear coverings, passengers will too. The airline will provide, but they are recommending you bring your own for maximum comfort.

Qatar is also encouraging passengers to follow hygiene practices recommended by the World Health Organization, such as regular hand washing and refraining from touching the face.

For passengers who fly in business or first class with access to social areas such as the bar, these have been closed to maintain social distancing measures. Large bottles of hand sanitiser will also be placed in the galleys for use by both passengers and crew.

‘We have introduced these additional safety measures on board our flights to ensure the continued health and wellbeing of our passengers and cabin crew, and to limit the spread of coronavirus. As an airline, we maintain the highest possible hygiene standards to ensure that we can fly people home safely during this time and provide even greater reassurance that safety is our number one priority,’ Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, Akbar Al Baker said.
