MSC extends suspension of operations until July Posted by Anita Froneman on 7 May 2020 MSC Cruises announced that it will resume operations only from 10 July 2020, after initially suspending all cruises until May 29. ‘MSC Cruises is offering guests affected by this measure a Future Cruise Credit (FCC) where they have the opportunity to transfer the full amount paid for their cancelled cruise to a future cruise of their choice – on any ship, for any itinerary — through to the end of 2021,’ the company says on its website. ‘In addition, guests will receive a credit benefit of between €100 and €400 [around R2 000 and R8 000], depending on the length of their original cruise.’ Guests who booked cruises up until 30 September will be covered under the ‘Flexible Cruise Programme.’ This allows guests to reschedule their cruise to a future departure date through to 31 December 2021 at no additional cost. The rescheduled cruise may be on any ship with any itinerary in the MSC Cruises fleet. ‘Our onboard procedures have always been high quality and have, in many cases, exceeded minimum requirements from health authorities and the World Health Organisation,’ Managing Director for MSC Cruises South Africa Ross Volk told IOL.
