Dubai-based influencer arrested for flouting stay-at-home rule Posted on 25 March 2020 On Monday Semia Azaiz, a Dubai-based fitness influencer whose Instagram handle is ‘The Trendy Frenchie‘ uploaded a number of videos that implied that her followers should ignore the health authorities’ advice to stay at home (except for travel to get essential items and to work) to prevent the further spread of coronavirus. In response, a number of Twitter users reported the videos by tagging the Dubai Police, according to Arab News. On Tuesday 24 March, Dubai Police announced they had arrested a member of the public for ‘showing her indifference to the #StayHome national campaign.’ According to Arab News a tweet from the Dubai Police read, ‘Dubai Police has arrested a European national of Arab origin for posting a video showing her indifference to the #StayHome national campaign and encouraging people to defy authorities’ social distancing instructions. Legal measures were taken against her. The case has been referred to the Federal Public Prosecution for Information Technology Crimes.
