Somerset West wine estate launches wine safari Posted on 4 March 2020 Tags:Lourensford Lourensford Estate in Somerset West has launched a ‘Vinfari’ to provide wine and nature lovers with an unique opportunity to experience tutored tastings of the estate’s flagship ranges while enjoying a visual feast of the vineyards, mountains, forest, Fynbos, orchards and gardens. The spectacular natural environment is the root of Lourensford’s world-class wine, and inspires every sip. The Estate invites you to ‘gather the wine-loving crew, plan a date with a difference or call up your best friend for a fun day out’. The adventure begins when you hop aboard the 4×4 safari vehicle, which departs from the Tasting Room at 10am, with the 3-hour Vinfari costing R600 per person and is limited to 8 people per tour. The first tasting focusses on Lourensford’s popular The Dome range and makes for a delectable start to your journey. You can sip on Lourensford’s premium white wines while enjoying a delicious cheeseboard at the second stop before concluding with the estate’s top reds, including the flagship Chrysalis, and a tasty charcuterie platter. ‘Although the Vinfari is all about experiencing our wines in the natural surrounds where they are inspired and nourished, keen-eyed visitors will likely spot beautiful Jackal Buzzards soaring in the sky and may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the shy caracal and duiker,’ says Cellarmaster Hannes Nel, who regularly monitors the vineyards on his mountain bike. To find out about upcoming Vinfari dates and for more information email [email protected] or call (021) 847 2300. Advance bookings and pre-payments are essential. Note that the Vinfari happens weather permitting and no under 18s are allowed.
