Storm Dennis forces plane to land sideways at Heathrow Posted on 17 February 2020 Over the weekend, an airplane struggled to land at London Heathrow amid Storm Dennis, which saw wind speeds reaching 146 km an hour. The Etihad Airbus managed to land sideways as it was pummeled from every angle by the wind. Hundreds of flights were cancelled and many struggled to land at Heathrow according to the Daily Mail. Other planes were confronted with the same conditions and were seen bouncing off the runway before landing. This is the second major storm in a few weeks to hit the UK. Some areas have received a month’s worth of rain in two days, prompting the Emergency Agency to issue flood warnings, according to Independent. In a statement, Georgie Timmins, crisis response officer at the British Red Cross, said: ‘The storms are expected to continue, and water is anticipated to be at peak levels on Monday and Tuesday. It is important people are ready should the worst happen.’ Image: screenshot from YouTube clip Related Posts Cape Town’s sustainability: Leading the way in environmental initiatives 1 June 2023 As National Environmental Month commences in South Africa, Cape Town stands proudly at the forefront... read more Kapama to host Safari Guide of the Year Awards 2023 1 June 2023 Kapama Private Game Reserve near Hoedspruit will host this year’s Safari Guide of the Year... read more Blood Lions relaunches for public viewing on YouTube 1 June 2023 Award-winning documentary feature film Blood Lions has been relaunched on YouTube for public viewing, creating... read more PREV ARTICLE NEXT ARTICLE
