Lioness stalks unsuspecting leopard Posted on 12 February 2020 A cheeky lioness gave an unsuspecting leopard the fright of its life in Etosha National Park in Namibia. A French biologist and freelance safari guide, Valentin Lavis caught the sighting on camera and shared it with Latest Sightings. Lavis explained to Latest Sightings that he had two guests with him and after a day of extremely lucky sightings, he decided to check out one last watering hole before heading back to camp for sunset. ‘One of the reasons I love this part of Etosha is because it is very quiet and you can often have a sighting just for yourself without being disturbed. There was one vehicle parked next to the water, we started to approach slowly and one of my guests said ‘Lioness!’ Indeed it was! A beautiful lioness was sitting in the open not too far from the water. I soon spotted another animal drinking at the waterhole but it looked way smaller than the lioness… A leopard!’ Lavis said to Latest Sightings. In the video you can see the leopard minding its own business, making its way toward a shallow embankment. The lioness is perched above the leopard and crouches down into a pounce position. With her eyes on the leopard, she waits for the perfect moment to attack.
