Zoo feeds your ‘cockroach ex’ to a meerkat

Posted on 29 January 2020

Valentine’s Day is around the corner, and while it’s a happy day for some, it is a scorn-filled day for others. A zoo in Texas has taken it upon themselves to help those who have not found closure yet do so in most unconventional way – by feeding a cockroach named after their ex to a small mammal.

Aptly named ‘Quit Bugging Me’ this event proved successful beyond measure when it was introduced last year, and hopes to be even more successful in 2020.

Scorned lovers get to choose from a variety of animals to feed their ‘ex’ to, including primates, birds and small mammals. The animals will not be stuffed with roaches on Valentine’s Day alone, so don’t worry about their over-full bellies. The event stretches from February 14 to 16. The names of the exes can be submitted via an online form on the El Paso Zoo’s official website, and the name of the lover remains anonymous. The names of the exes will also mitigate their last names, and there is no fee for submissions. The zoo believes revenge should be free, especially on the Day Of Love.
