The reserve is set in a diverse landscape, encompassing five of South Africa’s seven biomes and has abundant wildlife including lion, elephant, rhino, giraffe and cheetah, which you’ll spot on game drives, guided walks and horse safaris. As part of the Indalo Game Reserves Protected Environment, Amakhala was awarded Protected Area Status in recognition of its contribution to biodiversity conservation, and was recently selected to receive the first translocation of a captive-born male cheetah into the wild. You’ll find warm hospitality and personalised service at all the luxury, owner-managed (some by fifth-generation Settler families) accommodation options in the reserve, including tented camps, luxury five-star lodges and restored 19th-century country houses.
