Healthy rhino calf born in Eastern Cape Posted on 7 January 2020 In a heartwarming turn of events, a rhino named Bembi, who lost her mother to poaching two years ago, has given birth to a healthy female calf. According to Times Live, the rhino lost her mom Bella – six days after she had been dehorned – to poachers. Kragga Kamma Game Park announced the news on their Facebook page and said: ‘Mom Bembi is the daughter of beautiful Bella who was poached here in June 2018, just 6 days after she was dehorned (Bembi was at the time nursing her own calf Bonnie but she took orphan Tank in and nursed him too, as her own. Now she has given birth to another calf, what a SUPERMom ! ) Having a new little calf born here certainly goes a long way to healing that hurt.’ The rhino calf was born on Friday 3 January 2020. Two guests were enjoying a self-drive safari when they came across the new born and mom. After alerting park officials, the guests enjoyed their time marvelling over the little rhino.
