How to travel with your coffee Posted on 17 December 2019 Tags:Coffee, travel The December break is so close you can practically smell it. Whether you’re planning a cross-country road trip through the Karoo, a week-long hike in the Drakensberg, or a boat trip on the Vaal, the one thing you shouldn’t forget to pack this holiday is good coffee. The 5am coffee before you head out on a game drive, or the cup you brew at the top of the mountain after a tough climb – besides giving you great coffee, it also gives you an opportunity to stop, take a breath and appreciate your surroundings. This is the true gift of coffee on the go,” says Jonathan Robinson, founder of Bean There Coffee Company, South Africa’s first roaster of Certified Fairtrade coffee. Bean There has put together a quick and easy guide to help you decide which coffee apparatus you’ll need to get you through the festive season: AeroPress: A light, durable and easy-to-clean coffee-brewing method, the AeroPress brews a cup in one minute – the ideal way to wash down your padkos. One-cup filters: The most compact travel-coffee solution – just add ground coffee, hot water and a cup. One-cup filters are perfect for when you need to pack light. Travel press: Ideal for the coffee connoisseur on the go, the travel press can come in single-serving or multiple-serving sizes, which means there’s enough to go around at your snoek braai. Cold-brew set: If you think coffee doesn’t sound like a sundowner option, think again. With a little bit of forethought, you can take some readymade cold brew to the beach – add a dash of tonic, you’re all set for a refreshing coffee-sundowner.
