Cape Town Airport scoops international award Posted by Anita Froneman on 12 December 2019 Cape Town International Airport was awarded the Best Airport Marketing in Africa for 4-20 million passengers at the Routes 2019 Marketing Awards on Monday. The annual award ceremony recognises excellence in airport route developments and is judged by airline network planners. The ceremony was held in Mombasa, Kenya. ‘We’re delighted by the recognition and acknowledgement from our colleagues in the aviation community. A major contributor of Cape Town Air Access’ strength lies in its collaborative nature, so we’d like to thank our partners in the City of Cape Town, Western Cape Government, Cape Town Tourism, South African Tourism, and ACSA, for their continuing support,’said Tim Harris, CEO of Wesgro said. Cape Town Air Access has played a key role in Cape Town International Airport adding 16 new routes and expanding 22 existing routes, according to Aviation Pros. Over 750,000 inbound seats have been added to Cape Town’s network, doubling international seat capacity at the airport and contributing millions in direct tourism spending to the economy. ‘The airport has several key infrastructure projects planned over the next five years, at an investment of R7.5 billion, to address capacity constraints and ensure that the airport is able to meet the growing demand. These include a realigned runway and new facilities for domestic arrivals and the international terminal which will increase our capacity to receive more passengers, double the landing capacity and our ability to handle larger aircraft. Construction is expected to start in the first half of 2020 and is expected to be completed by August 2022,’ CTIA said in a statement. ‘Making improvements to our infrastructure is part of running a leading airport and fulfilling our commitment to better serving all airport users. There will be some disruption to the normal operations of the airport, but we have plans in place to limit any inconvenience and we can guarantee it will be worth it.’ Image: Pixabay Related Posts Cape Town’s sustainability: Leading the way in environmental initiatives 1 June 2023 As National Environmental Month commences in South Africa, Cape Town stands proudly at the forefront... read more Kapama to host Safari Guide of the Year Awards 2023 1 June 2023 Kapama Private Game Reserve near Hoedspruit will host this year’s Safari Guide of the Year... read more Blood Lions relaunches for public viewing on YouTube 1 June 2023 Award-winning documentary feature film Blood Lions has been relaunched on YouTube for public viewing, creating... read more PREV ARTICLE NEXT ARTICLE
