New York’s new best view Posted by Anita Froneman on 28 October 2019 Tags:new york The highest outdoor sky deck in the Western Hemisphere will open in New York City in March 2020. This view point, called Edge, is busy being built at the Hudson Yards shopping centre and will have perfect views of the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, and the rest of New York’s skyline. With its 18.5m2 glass floor, visitors will get a spectacular bird’s-eye-view. John Kelly, the vice president of design and construction of the firm in charge of this structure, told Condé Nast Traveler, ‘It probably sounds corny, but it’s a fresh look. It’s 700m2 of unenclosed outdoor space. It’s not walking around the structural core of a building where everything is limited. It’s like an outdoor plaza’. The experience will be open every day from 8:00 am until midnight. As tourists and locals alike are expected to flock to the Edge, tickets are already available online starting at 31 USD (R450) for general admission. You can also get apremium admission that allows you to enter at any time that suits you on your chosen day, and includes a glass of champagne and a personalized photobook, for a lofty 90 USD (R1,300).
