Durbanville restaurant outdoes Test Kitchen Posted on 22 October 2019 Tags:Durbanville Hills, Haute Grandeur Global Restaurant Awards, Table Mountain, Tangram Restaurant While the Test Kitchen, La Colombe, Myoga, Jardine, Hartford Koi and the Pot Luck Club all deserve their culinary accolades, these restaurants that represent the pinnacle of South African dining were outdone by Tangram Restaurant at the Durbanville Hills wine estate this weekend. Competing against the culinary greats mentioned above, as well as a number of other top eateries from around the world, Tangram received three awards at the annual Haute Grandeur Global Restaurant Awards for ‘Best South African Cuisine on a Global Level’, ‘Best Restaurant Manager in South Africa’ and ‘Best Gourmet Cuisine in Africa’. The announcement was made in Malaysia at a gala dinner held in Kuala Lumpur over the weekend. Using feedback from guests rather than from a judging panel or general public voting poll, the Haute Grandeur Global Restaurant Award winners are selected through a ‘rigorous rating process’, according to a press statement. This information is used by Haute Grandeur to recognise exceptional hospitality experiences across continents in more than 60 countries. Dirk Steyn, who was awarded ‘Best Restaurant Manager in South Africa’, says that it’s an enormous honour to receive global recognition. ‘The hospitality industry is competitive and consumers demand consistent quality, exceptional service and unique experiences that entice them to return,’ Steyn explained. ‘Dining out is such a social and emotive engagement and consumers have extremely high expectations. We pride ourselves in delivering beyond expectations – whether it’s breakfast, a languid lunch or celebratory dinner.’ The restaurant, known for its spectacular views of Table Mountain and Table Bay recently changed its name to Tangram. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, bookings can be made by visiting durbanvillehills.co.za. The three latest awards from the Haute Grandeur Global Restaurant Awards add to the restaurant’s list of accolades over the past six years, namely: 2019 Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor Best Restaurant in the Winelands (Restaurant Week 2015 & 2016) Best Restaurant in South Africa (Restaurant Week 2017) Top Restaurant on TripAdvisor 2018 Nominated Top Restaurant for the Haute Grandeur Global Restaurant Awards 2019 Images: Tangram Restaurant/supplied Related Posts Review: The Hearty & Homely Winter Lunch at Bistro Sixteen82 1 June 2023 A winter menu should evoke visions of heart-warming and comforting dishes that nourish the body... read more The rise of gastronomy tourism: restaurants to try in Thailand 1 June 2023 Gastronomy tourism has emerged as a thriving trend in recent years, capturing taste buds... read more 10 Coffee Shops in Johannesburg to visit 25 May 2023 Finding the best coffee shops in Johannesburg can be tricky, so we've put together a... read more PREV ARTICLE NEXT ARTICLE
