Joker Stairs: New York’s latest tourist attraction Posted on 21 October 2019 Tags:Bronx, new york Instagrammers have been flocking to the borough of Bronx in New York to take photos on the stairs that feature in the new blockbuster movie, Joker. The scene, which has been shared over social media in popular gifs, features actor Joaquin Phoenix, who portrays the Joker, dancing down to the soundtrack of Gary Glitter’s ‘Rock and Roll Part 2’. The area has not been a traditionally popular one with the tourist crowds and on social media visitors have been warned to be careful of these stairs as they are likely to get robbed. One Twitter user who goes by the name ‘Bella Goth’ tweeted: ‘Those awful stairs on 167 are now renamed “the joker stairs” so I just want to remind everyone that the Bronx is not a friendly place for tourist attractions, you will get robbed…’ In contrast to the warnings, one resident, named Jose Cruz, who takes the stairs at West 167th Street every day told the Daily Mail that ‘It’s good for us…you know, publicity,’. He added that ‘people don’t have to be scared of the Bronx no more, the way they used to [be]’.
