Posted on 3 October 2019

The launch of Contiki’s TikTok channel @ContikiTravel is being celebrated with the ultimate competition for young fans of the platform with a passion for travel.

Travel company Contiki has launched a worldwide competition to find their 2020 TikTok creator, combining this popular social network and the brand’s desire to further meld music and travel.

The prize will be a year-long content creator ambassadorship with Contiki, travelling to some of their most popular destinations to capture content to be shared on Contiki’s TikTok platfrom that shows the power of shared experiences and travelling with like-minded people.

To enter, you’ll need to create and share videos that encapsulate friendships while travelling utilising the native features of the TikTok platform including stickers, filters, background music and augmented reality.

Entrants must share their most creative moments and content on their own TikTok channels, making sure to include the hashtags #contikifindyourpeople and #tiktoktravel.

Contiki will then reshare their favourites every two weeks, entering these into a the competition finals. The voting will be put in the hands of Contiki’s social media followers; with the winner being named in January 2020.

An exciting part of working in the youth travel industry today is the number of opportunities to collaborate with young people in creating new, unique content that provides a fresh take on traditional travel stories. As a company, Contiki has been working alongside influencers, experts and young people to create truly relevant content for a number of years. Contiki will be launching the comp and channel using some of the epic moments captured during their recent Find Your People influencer campaign, which saw 9 strangers come together to road test Contiki’s new Rome to Barcelona by train trip,’ says Kele Scheppers, Marketing Manager for The Travel Corporation, parent company of Contiki.

Teresa Richardson, MD of The Travel Corporation in South Africa, says that South Africa’s youth are known to be early adopters of new technology. ‘Travelling and social media go hand-in-hand for our travellers and we delight in finding new channels through which to connect with young people. This means we have to stay on the cutting edge of the latest technology, and the growth of TikTok as a platform gives us a great opportunity to speak to Gen Z audiences on the platforms they enjoy most.’
