Women-only hotel opens in Spain Posted on 27 September 2019 The Som Dona Hotel in Mallorca is the first women-only resort to open in Spain. As the number of female solo travellers have increased, a need has been created for safe accommodation spaces. Image: Twitter Travelling may seem like an experience best done with friends or family, however, research indicates that a large portion of people actually prefer to travel alone – particularly women. While we are opting to go on these solo adventures, there is an element of risk in being a woman alone in a foreign country. Som Dona Hotel, located on Mallorca’s Manacor coast provides a space for women and girls age 14 and up to relax and recharge exclusively among themselves on their solo adventures. The four-star resort boasts chic rooms, lounge areas, a beach-style pool, healthy food options, spa, fitness, wellness accommodation and a rooftop terrace. Rooms range from €72.50 to €159 per night (around R1100 to R2600).
